These days, vanilla syrup is readily available in the coffee and tea aisle of your local grocery store. Personally, I always found that I never needed that much vanilla syrup as most recipes call for less than a tablespoon at a time. Instead of wasting a whole bottle, one day I decided to make my own…and vanilla syrup is so easy to make that now I just whip up a small batch when I need it.
Cook Time: 5 minutes Makes: about 6 tablespoons
6 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla paste
Bring the sugar and the water to a simmer over medium heat. Simmer until the sugar dissolves the liquid appears clear (about 2-3 minutes). Off heat, add the vanilla paste and set aside to cool. Once the syrup is room temperature, chill for at least 30 minutes before using.
Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
