Lazy holidays and Sundays have me wanting to avoid the kitchen today. After crawling out of bed at the crack of 11am, I decided to make myself a morning tea complete with a vanilla muffie served with cherry preserves and a cuppa vanilla tea. That was about as much as I wanted to do in the kitchen today!
Adventurous intents aside, some days, you just want to lounge about in front of the television. So, instead of talking about food, I’m going to post about my second favorite topic… okay it’s actually my third favorite topic, tucked neatly behind food and cookbooks….
This is what the French would call les pots, les marmites et les casseroles! That translates to pots and pans in good ole Oklahoma! Mini skillets are an essential component for a single girl’s kitchen. Measuring about an inch deep by 5″ wide, mini skillets are great for Mini Cookie Pizzas, Mini Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookies or even my pie pizzas! I bought these during the Christmas season for about $2 a piece (I found them in the prepackaged gift aisle as part of a chocolate chip cookie gift kit), but Amazon sells a Lodge cast iron mini skillet for roughly $10. You can find it here.
One small suggestion – clean these with soap and water and dry immediately to prevent rusting. I would not recommend cleaning these in the dishwasher as your dishwasher detergent can quickly ruin a cast iron skillet. To cure, rub with a small round of butter or oil and dry with paper towels. Easy to use, easy to maintain, easy to clean. What’s not to love?
