Ice everywhere. Frosting on the trees. Sugar on the windshield. A wintry honeycomb.
Mmmm. Goat Cheese. Cherry Jam. Bread. A revelation.
Raw honeycomb is one of life’s natural beauties. On average, honey bees consume approximately 8 pounds of honey to secrete the pound of wax needed to create the iconic hexagonal cells composing a small square of raw honeycomb.
Tender to the touch with a ripeness that literally melts in your hand, for me, honeycomb is a wintertide pleasure and this no bake appetizer is perfect for those days when you want fancy without the fuss. Slainte xo
- 1 oz of soft cheese (a creamy goat cheese, a gooey Camembert, a nutty Parmiggiano, a French Brie or a buttery Pecorino all work well here).
- 1 oz of fruity jam (Figgy + goat cheese, Cranberry + Camembert, Blackberry + Parmiggiano, Apricot + Brie, Cherry + Pecorino)
- A freshly baked French Baguette
- Raw Honeycomb
- Freshly Cracked Pepper
- Assembling as you go, lovingly place the ingredients on a cheese board, grab a good book, a warm blanket and nibble away! Who says cooking for one can't be a lavish treat!
